Read area and colour as separate variables
A larger tile represents more gross tracked volume for the asset, with visual scaling used so the largest coins do not erase smaller ones. Colour represents net direction: inflow onto exchanges versus outflow off exchanges. Saturation grows as net direction becomes a larger share of gross. A large neutral tile is busy but balanced; a smaller saturated tile is more one-sided.
- Area Relative gross activity for the asset.
- Inflow colour Net supply moved onto exchanges.
- Outflow colour Net supply moved off exchanges.
Use Net Flow Bias for the whole map
SWNF summarizes size-weighted net flow across the visible map. The signed USD number gives direction; the percentage tells how large net flow is relative to gross activity. Compare it with the prior window badge and sparkline. A large number on tiny gross volume is less convincing than a sustained shift with participation.
Scrub history instead of trusting one snapshot
Move the time slider away from LIVE to watch the same window end at an earlier point. Look for tiles that grow, fade or reverse as the window moves. The sparkline playhead keeps the aggregate synchronized with the map. A view can be shared because period, time and excluded sources are encoded in the URL hash.
Isolate exchanges and whales
The Sources panel can include or exclude individual exchanges and top wallets for the current window. Click a top-source chip in an asset detail to isolate that contributor. Use this to test whether a market-wide colour comes from broad participation or one venue or whale. Remember that out-of-plan exchanges remain visibly unavailable rather than silently disappearing.
Frequently asked questions
Why is tile area not a literal market-cap map?
It represents tracked gross flow, visually scaled for legibility. Market cap does not determine the tile area.
What does a bright tile mean?
Net direction is large relative to the asset's gross tracked flow. Check the detail strip for actual USD, direction and top sources.
