Wintermute pulls $41.18M off exchanges in 24 hours, inventory leaving venues
Withdrawals outpaced deposits by a wide margin, flipping a $106.56M inflow effort into a net exodus. The direction of inventory travel is away from order books.
Wintermute sent $106.56M in 159 deposits to exchanges while pulling $147.74M back out across 186 withdrawals. The net $41.18M moved off-venue. That imbalance means the desk is not loading up on exchange wallets right now; it is reducing what sits on trading platforms.
When a major market maker runs more withdrawals than deposits, the lean is toward lighter inventory on the venues where two-sided quotes get posted.
Observed lean is unloading. Whether that precedes thinner books, a delta-neutral shift, or collateral rotation is not yet visible. The next 24-hour window will show if the pattern holds.
